Walter Johnston, Jr.
President

Walter Johnston, president and CEO of Teague Insurance Agency, Inc., joined the agency in March of 1973 after serving as field supervisor for Travelers Insurance Financial Services division. A native San Diegan and 1968 graduate of the University of San Diego, Walt worked with agency founder John Teague until John retired in November of 1981.

Under Walt's leadership, Teague Insurance has grown to become one of San Diego's largest independent insurance brokerage firms. A firm believer in the importance of leadership and service in his profession and the community, Walt has served on the education committee of the Insurance Brokers and Agents of California as well as chairing the Insurance Brokers and Agents of San Diego (IBASD) education committee and serving as its president. He has served on the national producers' council of Travelers Insurance, Industrial Indemnity, Pacific National Insurance Company, and California Insurance Group. IBASD has honored him as agent of the year and awarded him the prestigious Andrew Ekern award for community service.

Walt has been active in the University of San Diego Alumni Association for more than 30 years, serving as its president and member of the association's board of directors. He was awarded the Bishop Charles Francis Buddy award for his service to the university and the wider community.

During the years his three sons were active in the Boy Scouts of America, Walt served as a Webelos leader, a merit badge counselor for bicycle merit badge, and committee chair of Troop 360 for nine years.

Married and the father of four children, his hobbies include photography woodworking, travel, and bicycling.
